How to Clear Bloom Infestations and Cure Angel Comb in Subnautica 2
Clearing a Bloom infestation in Subnautica 2 depends on using the Sonic Resonator correctly, following the infected root paths, and destroying the blue glowing nodes hidden away from the main plant. The process is simple once you know where to go, what to ignore, and how to manage oxygen inside the cave sections.

Guide Background
If the main Angel Comb plant is still blocked by infestation, shooting the visible spores around it will not clear the problem. The real objective is deeper along the infected root network.
Before starting, you need the Sonic Resonator. The infestation cannot be properly cleared without it, and the important attack here is the Charge Blast.
The route starts at the large infected plant. From there, you need to stop focusing on the outer spores and instead track the large blue tendril-like roots leading away from the Bloom.
Operation Steps
Step 1: Go to the main Angel Comb and stop attacking the outer spores
At the main plant, you will see spores around it, but those are not the targets you need to destroy. Attacking them does not solve the infestation.
Once you reach the plant, switch your attention to the large blue root or tendril-like growths connected to it.
Step 2: Follow the infected roots into the murky water
Travel along the blue tendrils leading away from the main plant. As you move farther in, the water becomes more murky, which is a good sign that you are heading into the infected zone.
Keep following the roots until you reach hidden infestation points.
Step 3: Find the blue glowing nodes and hit them with Charge Blast
Eventually you will reach areas with blue glowing growths. These are the actual infestation targets.
Use the Sonic Resonator's Charge Blast on these glowing parts. Clear every target in that cluster before moving on.
Step 4: Deal with hostile fish only if necessary
Small aggressive fish may rush you while you are trying to clear the infestation. They can be killed with a Charge Blast, but it is usually faster to ignore them and stay focused on the glowing targets.
Watch your health and use medkits if needed.
Step 5: Return to the main Angel Comb after clearing a cluster
After you clear one infestation area, head back to the main Angel Comb. Your PDA will update your progress and confirm that the plant is still being affected by its offshoots.
If one cluster remains, you need to leave again and follow the roots toward the next infected section.
Step 6: Follow the roots to the second infestation site
For this early Angel Comb infestation, there are two connected infected areas to clear.
Follow the roots again until they lead you to the next cluster. One of these routes heads toward the Wanderer Black Box, which can serve as a useful landmark if you have already found it.
Step 7: Manage oxygen inside the cave section
One of the infestation points is inside a cave, so oxygen becomes the main hazard.
Look for small anemone-like plants. If you remove the cyst on top, bubbles come out and you can refill your air there. There is usually also a water slug nearby.
Use these air pockets to stay down longer and finish clearing the glowing targets safely.
Step 8: Return to the Angel Comb to finish the cure
Once every connected infestation node has been destroyed, go back to the main Angel Comb. After the final cluster is cleared, the infestation will be gone and the cure process is complete.
Important Items
Sonic Resonator
This is the key tool for clearing Bloom infestations. Without it, you cannot properly remove the infected growths tied to the Angel Comb.
Charge Blast
The Charge Blast is the attack you need to use on the blue glowing infestation nodes. It can also kill the small charging fish, though that is usually optional.
Blue Tendril Roots
These roots are your main pathfinding tool. If you are unsure where to go next, keep following the large blue infected tendrils connected to the Bloom.
Blue Glowing Infestation Nodes
These are the real targets. Destroying them is what advances the cure, not attacking the visible spores around the main plant.
Wanderer Black Box
One infestation path leads toward the Wanderer Black Box. If you already know where that landmark is, it helps confirm that you are heading in the right direction.
Anemone-Like Air Refill Plants
In cave sections, these act as emergency oxygen sources. Clearing the cyst on top releases bubbles that let you refill your air.
Key Notes and Tips
- The spores around the main Angel Comb cannot be destroyed for progression.
- Murky water usually means you are entering the infected route correctly.
- After clearing one cluster, always return to the main plant for the PDA update.
- The PDA message helps confirm how many infestation branches remain.
- Early on, this Angel Comb sequence has two infestation points to clear.
- Cave sections are more dangerous because oxygen is a bigger threat than enemies.
Tips and Tricks
- If enemies are only chipping at your health, keep moving and finish the nodes first instead of wasting time fighting.
- Save medkits for when the charging fish start stacking damage during close cave work.
- If you lose the route, look for the thick blue roots instead of searching randomly.
- Use known landmarks like the Wanderer Black Box to stay oriented on the second branch.
- In tight spaces, find your oxygen refill plants before starting to destroy every node so you do not get trapped on low air.
Summary
To cure the Angel Comb, do not waste time on the outer spores. Bring the Sonic Resonator, follow the infected blue roots, destroy every blue glowing node with Charge Blast, manage your health and oxygen on the way, and return to the main plant after each cleared branch until the infestation is fully removed.
