Guide Background

The Feedback Resonator is the upgrade that turns the Sonic Resonator into the version needed later for opening an Angel Comb. If you have not reached the research base yet, the route begins from the Life Pod and points out the fastest landmarks to follow.

You need the Sonic Resonator first, and you will eventually need a Modification Station to craft the upgrade after scanning both fragments.

Operation Steps

Step 1: Reach the Alien Research Base from the Life Pod

Start at the Life Pod and head between the E marker and 105. Go in a straight line toward that section.

If the Collector Leviathan is in your path, hop up into the air to avoid it. Once you reach the alien tower, the Alien Research Base is slightly to the left.

Step 2: Travel from the Research Base to the First Fragment

From the Alien Research Base, move back toward the eastern side again, a little to the right of 105. Keep going straight.

You will pass a large alien base. Do not turn with the structure or curve around it. Stay on your line and continue straight ahead.

When you arrive at the next landmark, you will see a large tower. Drop down a bit and look for the wreckage below. That wreck is the target.

Inside, loot the area before leaving. One of the required crafting pieces for the upgrade is in a small box there. In a separate room, you will find the first Feedback Resonator fragment. Scan it before heading out.

Step 3: Go from the Research Base to the Second Fragment

Return to the Alien Research Base, then head into roughly the same general area, but this time go downward.

You should spot an Angel Comb. If you are already searching for the Feedback Resonator, you have probably been here before. From the Angel Comb, follow the stalk leading away from it between north and northeast.

Stay on that path and it will lead you to the second fragment location. This area can be a little awkward to navigate, so slow down and check your surroundings as you approach.

Step 4: Craft the Upgrade

After scanning both fragments, build or use a Modification Station and craft the Feedback Resonator upgrade.

Important Items

Feedback Resonator Fragments

You need two fragments in total. The first is inside the wreck near the large tower past the alien base. The second is near the Angel Comb area, along the stalk running between north and northeast.

Alien Research Base

This is the main anchor point for both routes. If you are making repeated trips in this area, it is a strong place to build a small base.

Wreck Loot Box

At the first fragment wreck, there is a small loot box containing one of the materials needed for crafting the upgrade. Grab it while you are already inside.

Modification Station

You will need a Modification Station to actually make the Feedback Resonator after collecting both scans.

Conduit Crystals

Conduit Crystals are located near the second fragment area. Pick them up while you are there, since they are needed for crafting and save you a separate return trip.

Angel Comb

The upgrade is especially important because it is used to open Angel Combs later. The second fragment route also uses the Angel Comb as an easy landmark.

Key Notes and Tips

  • The route from the Life Pod to the research base is a straight shot between E and 105.
  • The Collector Leviathan can interfere on the approach, so gaining height is the safer move.
  • When passing the large alien base on the way to the first fragment, do not drift off course. Staying completely straight is what lines you up with the tower and wreck.
  • The first fragment location has useful loot, so do not just scan and leave.
  • The second fragment path is close to the Angel Comb and follows the visible stalk, which makes it easier to track than wandering blind.
  • You cannot finish the upgrade immediately without a Modification Station.

Tips and Tricks

  • Set up an outpost at the Alien Research Base if you are still working through this region. It cuts down travel time for both fragment runs.
  • Use major landmarks instead of small terrain details: alien tower, research base, large alien base, large tower, wreck, Angel Comb, then stalk.
  • On the second fragment run, search the nearby area for extra materials instead of rushing straight out. There are useful crafting resources around that section.
  • If you already know where the Angel Comb is, use that as your starting point for the second fragment instead of trying to approach it from farther out.

Summary

The cleanest route is to use the Alien Research Base as your hub, grab the first fragment from the wreck past the large alien base, then head down to the Angel Comb and follow the stalk to the second fragment. Pick up the nearby loot and Conduit Crystals while you are there, craft the upgrade at a Modification Station, and you will be ready to open Angel Combs later in progression.
